ROC Conversations
'ROC Conversations' are part of our strategy for working within a city or region. They are evening events which bring together members of the local community, including representatives from the church, police, fire and rescue service, council and others. We have found it helpful to base the localities on existing police divisions or by neighbourhood. The evenings give plenty of opportunity for discussion based on themes such as 'What do we hope our community will look like in 5 years' time? 'What resources do we, at this table, have to offer our community's needs?' and 'What could be done better through working together?' We have developed inspirational project ideas, but recognise that each area has unique needs and therefore needs a unique response. ROC Conversations are an incubator for ideas to be expressed and projects to be born. Watch this space - we want to promote and encourage your ideas...

"Ten of us from LifeChurch attended the Trafford ‘ROC Conversation’, and in truth probably went with fairly low expectations of the benefits the evening might provide for us! However we came away having renewed relationships, or initiated, new ones with other Trafford churches, Ambassadors in Sport, the Police and the ROC Team. For example, our young Stretford-based mission team forged some really helpful links with their local Police Officers; and our Sale community projects coordinator will now be taking part in a regular networking meeting between a number of the Sale churches, having agreed the value of greater cooperation. We commend the work of Debra Green and colleagues at Redeeming Our Communities, as they enable individuals to make a difference from the grassroots, and encourage churches to more proactively engage with their communities in new and more effective ways."
