ROC-ing Kent
Over the weekend I have enjoyed a trip to Kent to introduce the work of ROC. It was especially good to have Graham and Jan Simmons as travelling companions, as they are from that part of the country! Originally from Dartford and more recently Yardling.
I have fond memories of Kent, as I lived in Bromley as a child and used to enjoy visiting Tunbridge Wells for days out with my family. We stayed in Tunbridge Wells and then travelled to Maidstone where meetings were held at St Luke’s which were attended by people from several churches, local Councillors, Kent Police and Fire Service.
We hope we can partner with St Luke’s, and local agencies to set up a ROC Centre in Maidstone. We also had enquiries about setting up a ROC Café youth projects in Tunbridge Wells and King’s Hill.
We are grateful to Barry Knott from Kent Police, Paul Wilson the South East regional coordinator of ROC and Neil Sampson from St Luke’s for helping to organise the event which included a mini ROC Conversations on Sunday afternoon attended by 60 people.
Please think of us as we progress talks with Kent and see some new ROC projects emerge. We are planning a training day for people from the South East who are interested in ROC projects in June.
